Phandalin
As the sun begins to set on the sleepy town of Phandalin, six brave adventurers find themselves standing in the center of the dusty, cobblestone streets. They have each been drawn here for their own reasons - perhaps to seek fortune and glory, to uncover long-forgotten secrets, or simply to satisfy their wanderlust.
As they look around, they see the town is small and quiet, with only a few people going about their business. But something feels off. There is a tension in the air, a sense of unease that seems to hang over the town like a dark cloud.
Suddenly, a figure steps out from the shadows, their face obscured by a hooded cloak. "Greetings, adventurers," the figure says in a low, gravelly voice. "I have a proposition for you. I have reason to believe that Phandalin is in great danger, and I need your help to save it."
The figure beckons the adventurers closer and whispers urgently, "Will you help me? Will you join forces to protect this town from the unknown evil that threatens it?"
If YES
If the players agree to join Gundren Rockseeker, he will be pleased and thankful for their help. He will explain to the players that he has hired a group of adventurers to transport a valuable package from Neverwinter to Phandalin, but the group never arrived, and he suspects they were ambushed. He will ask the players to investigate and retrieve the package, which he will offer to pay them 10 gold pieces each for their efforts.
Gundren will provide the players with a map to the ambush site and ask them to be careful, as he suspects the attackers are goblins who are known to be vicious and ruthless. He will also offer to provide them with supplies and a mule to help carry the package back to Phandalin.
If the players agree to help, Gundren will give them the map and send them on their way, wishing them good luck on their journey.
If NO
If the players refuse to join Gundren's quest, he will be disappointed but will understand that they have their own priorities. He will offer them some gold as compensation for their time and effort in coming to Phandalin. However, he will need to find other adventurers to help him transport the goods to Barthen's Provisions. The players will be free to explore Phandalin and pursue other quests or missions.Â
